Out of all her sisters, idolized Psyche was yet to be wed.
Fearing they had incurred the wrath of the gods, her family took her to the Delphic Oracle of Apollo to seek guidance. The oracle told them they were not to expect a human son-in-law, but instead a dragon-like beast atop a mountain that is feared by even the inhabitants of the underworld.
Her family, dressed in funeral attire, ushered her there to meet her fate on a rocky crag. Saddened, they left her exposed, abandoned, and weeping, before the West Zephyr Winds gently lifted her to meet her destiny. To her surprise, she was deposited into a beautiful floral garden with an intricate temple. The carved wooden and ivory ceilings, depictions of animals embossed in silver along the walls, and bejeweled tile floors were something of her dreams. She didn't yet know- as a disembodied voice told her she was safe and to enjoy the feast that would take place that evening- that it was Eros who built this haven for her. With a sigh of relief, she promptly fell asleep on a garden lounge.
